Many organisations have placed staff on furlough leave. During this time, they will accrue holiday leave, in line with their contract. When they return to work, however, they will have, potentially, a whole year’s holiday leave to take in 8/9 months. This could well be at the time when you need to catch up with work to bring in income.
Whilst you could allow a deferment until next year, they will then have accumulated a large amount of paid leave, which could affect your business operations for next year too.
Have you considered putting staff on holiday leave while they are furloughed? This means the Government will pick up 80% of the cost. How good is that? If you need advice, please give us a call.
